So while they’re working on their peaceful postures I’m plotting. There must be a button hidden somewhere among the relics and saints and sacraments. A button I can push hard enough to set something off. To get them riled up. Then we’ll see what they’re made of. End this game of holier-than-thou charades.

I’ll find it, and I’ll push it. No –  obliterate it completely. They honestly won’t know what hit them. And then I’ll sit back and watch the excitement.

Because that’s what this place is missing. It’s all serene smiles and hushed prayers. Where’s the fire? The passion that called them here in the first place.

What’s really needed here is some holy heresy.

Basically over five days a bunch of bloggers will be writing drabbles (150 word pieces) on themes taken from Dante’s Inferno.

First up is Limbo – and here’s my drabble.

Her faded shoes scuffed against the polished floor and she swallowed, tongue sticking to the inside of her dry mouth. Too afraid to look around she stared at the dangling lace trailing to the ground. Finally risking a glass she caught the eye of a severe woman sitting a few metres away.

White-knuckled hands twisted in her lap. At least she wasn’t alone. She could see them in the periphery. They seemed as nervous as her. It wasn’t so much the fear of what was to come, it was the waiting. The endless uncertainty.

It wasn’t too late to escape. She could get up now and slowly slip away. A lifetime of possible pain was a small price to pay for her freedom.

Keeping her head down she prised herself from the chair and swiftly plotted the path to liberty.

“Miss Sanchez.” She froze. “The dentist will see you now.”

And then I’m always thankful for the view that greets me when I leave gym in the morning. Yeah, it’s there when I go in too, but everything is somehow rosier when I’ve just finished a workout and I’m feeling impressed with myself.

Yeah, there are some things I’d love to change about myself, but in general I’m happy with me. This is a bit of a gush post, but this month is all about being thankful, so it was bound to happen.

When I look back at my life I see so many situations which at the time seemed like disasters – but in retrospect each and every one of them contributed to the person I am today.

I’m thankfully for the good and bad. And I’m also thankful that I’m able to look back and see just how I’ve been shaped.

I’m also looking forward to the next part of my journey and one day stopping again to look back and see how much further I’ve come. It’s exciting, this whole life thing.

I’m thankful for our washing machine and sunny days that make sure our house doesn’t have to resemble a laundry all week.

I’m thankful that I got the chance to join in a cooking class with Giggling Gourmet Jenny Morris today. In related news, I have my first batch of ice-cream in the freezer right this second. And it’s actually starting to set. It would be great to have a machine, but the fact that it can be done the slow way is fab.

And I’m thankful that tomorrow is Sunday and my man is coming back home. You’d swear I’d never lived on my own before. In truth it’s just been four months since we moved in here, and it’s already weird without him.

Oh, and no photos today. My camera is without batteries at the moment.

I’m thankful I’ve had the opportunity to see some of my favourite artworks up close. This is Rodin’s The Gates of Hell in Paris. I could stand for hours drinking it all in. Each and every little detail.

My parking bay in our work garage. Granted, I only have it for a little while longer… but perhaps that’s one of the reasons I’m appreciating it even more.

From this vantage point you can’t see all the bird droppings… no, those are on my car.

And then, I’m thankfully for my little family. I wasn’t allowed to take a pic of the real thing, so I thought I’d show you the stylised version.

Oh to be that skinny.
